“Balaganchik,” or "The Puppet Show," is a tale of mystics, romance and a global revolution.

This bilingual adaptation of Aleksandr Blok's 1906 Symbolist play will be presented free to the public at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10, in Room 123 of the Global Scholars Hall, 1710 E. 15th Ave.

Presented by the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies program, the performance includes mystics expecting the end of the world; the comic love triangle of Pierro, Harlequin, and Colombina; the Dancing Dolls; three Symbolist love stories demystified by a 21st-century shrink; a masquerade ball ending in a global revolution and more.

The performances are a collaboration among REEES, the UO's College of Arts and Sciences, UO Libraries, Student Housing, Theater Arts, and Department of Art. Seating is first come, first served.
