The University of Oregon Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence is currently seeking applications for mentors and mentees for the WINGS Mentor Program.
The program is looking for faculty, staff, graduate students, alumni and community members interested in serving as mentors to UO undergraduate students. Mentors are asked to meet with mentees twice per term.
Sophomore, junior and senior students are paired with a mentor to support their career goals, academic interests or ethnic identity. They aim to create a strategy for personal success and establish networks to build community connections.
Mentorships will be supplemented with programming and academic advising. Workshops will engage students in identity building, post-graduation prep, community workdays, resume and cover letter creation, and internship and scholarship searches.
The WINGS Mentor Program is an extension of the CMAE that is geared towards the retention, academic success, leadership development and professional growth of under-represented students and those with multiple identities.
WINGS will host a kickoff event Jan. 7.
To participate in the WINGS Mentor Program, complete the online application by Dec. 20. For more information, email gpscmae@uoregon.edu or call 346-3479.
