Biography:

Gena Nelson is an academic expert in learning disabilities, special education and early mathematics intervention. She studies how children with learning disabilities learn math and what teaching approaches actually work. Her research reviews and analyzes large bodies of existing studies to identify effective ways teachers and families can support early math learning, especially for young children with disabilities. She also leads a project testing a home-based math program designed to help preschool children with developmental delays build early math skills.
