The University of Oregon is a top military friendly school according to Victory Media Inc., publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine, in its latest annual list.  The honor puts the UO in the top 20 percent of U.S. colleges, universities and trade schools for services for students with military experience. This is the fourth year in the row the UO is included on the list.
The UO's Student Recreation Center will be closed Friday afternoon (Sept. 20), as Campus Operations has a water main replaced outside the building.The Student Recreation Center and Esslinger Hall will be without water from about 1 p.m. on Friday to early morning on Monday, Sept. 23. Water service is expected to resume by 6 a.m. Monday.The Rec Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, then will be closed for the weekend, as it has each weekend during summer break. Leighton Pool will be open from 6:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Friday.
An exhibit focusing on Iberian and Latin American studies continues through next February at the University of Oregon Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.“Transatlanticism,” and the courses and symposium it supports, features works by modern and contemporary masters including Roberto Matta (Chilean, 1911-2002), Joan Miró (Spanish, 1893-1983), Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973), and Rufino Tamayo (Mexican, 1899-1991), among others.
The University of Oregon today announced a tentative agreement with the faculty union, United Academics, on a first-time collective bargaining contract. The contract is effective upon ratification next month and effective through June 30, 2015.
