Aggressive panhandling, public drunkenness, and drug dealing—20 years ago the stretch of East 13th Avenue just west of campus was a magnet for these illegal activities. Shops had bricks thrown through their windows and customers were calling in to see if it was safe to enter the neighborhood.
The UO's Center for Assessment, Statistics and Evaluation (CASE) is seeking campus input to assess the research support needs of faculty and graduate students. An online survey allows participants to share their research practices and submit preferences for support.
Beatrice Dohrn knows nonprofits. She has spent nearly her entire professional career engaged in public interest work — from Legal Aid in Harlem and the Bronx to nearly a decade at the groundbreaking Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund.Now she's bringing her expertise, knowledge and commitment to the University of Oregon School of Law as the director of the Nonprofit Clinic. 
The north half of 13th Avenue and the sidewalk on the street's north side will be closed between Fenton and Friendly halls beginning Thursday (July 11) and continuing for about a month, as a fire line extension project gets underway.Users of Fenton, Friendly, Johnson and Chapman halls are expected to be the most affected by the project. The project manager from UO Campus Operations expects periods of loud construction noise.
