In about a week, campus auditions begin for the UO’s next "top cop."

Three finalist candidates for the University of Oregon chief of police will visit campus in July, with several opportunities for engagement with members of the campus community.

Each candidate will make a public presentation followed by a question-and-answer session. Also, each will have dedicated meetings with student representatives, faculty and staff representatives, and other key campus partners.

The identity and resume of each candidate will be published three days prior to each visit. 

Tuesday, July 12 — Candidate A: Public forums include a student session from 11-11:50 a.m., a public presentation and question and answer from 2:30-3:30 p.m., and a session for faculty and staff from 3:40-4:25 p.m., all in Room 111 Susan Campbell Hall.

Friday, July 15 — Candidate B: Public forums include a student session from 11-11:50 a.m., a public presentation and question and answer from 2:30-3:30 p.m., and a session for faculty and staff from 3:40-4:25 p.m., all in the Knight Library Browsing Room.

Monday, July 25 — Candidate C: Public forums include a student session, a public presentation and question and answer from 2:30-3:30 p.m., and a session for faculty and staff, all in the Knight Library Browsing Room.

Following the campus visits, the police chief search committee will make a recommendation to Andre Le Duc, associate vice president and chief resilience officer, who oversees the UO Police Department as part of the safety and risk services portfolio. Any possible employment offer for the job will be contingent on completion of a thorough background check.
