The Collier House site has been selected as the future home for a new 60,000-square-foot classroom and faculty office building.

Following a process that began in May 2018, the location was ultimately recommended by the Campus Planning Committee and approved by President Michael H. Schill.

“The facility will serve a critical need in the heart of our campus community,” said Chuck Triplett, assistant vice president for university initiatives and chair of the project's user group. “It’ll provide sorely needed versatility of classroom space, as well as a home to some of our most innovative programs. Like Tykeson Hall, this building will further enhance the student experience.”

Work is underway on determining the future site of the Collier House, which is a city landmark.

“The Campus Planning Committee has been considering this possibility since the site selection process began, and we are positioned well to choose a new home for it while staying on track with construction of the new facility,” said Eleni Tsivitzi, planning associate, who has been leading the site selection process.

The Collier House location was chosen with the benefit of feedback from interested parties at a series of four open houses and numerous planning committee meetings.

“We are grateful to everyone who shared their thoughts, in person or electronically,” said Christine Thompson, director of campus planning, who helped facilitate many of the discussions.

The committee will consider three remaining site options for Collier House at its Nov. 27 meeting.

Campus planners have begun to meet with Eugene officials to determine the next steps for the Collier House relocation, as the construction of the new building will be contingent on the move, according to Tsivitzi.
