The UO is revising its Conflicts of Interest, Potential policy and will be seeking input from all university employees. Employees may provide feedback by participating in an open house meeting and/or submitting comments online.
The Conflict of Interest Policy Revision Open House will take place Friday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. to noon in Room 23 of the Erb Memorial. All are welcome to attend.
The goals of the revision effort are to make the policy easier to understand, make it easier for employees to obtain approval to engage in outside activities, and ensure that the policy aligns with state law. The draft policy was developed by a joint administration-Senate ad hoc committee appointed by UO President Michael Schill and Senate President Bill Harbaugh.
Members of the UO community can review the draft policy and submit comments online. The deadline to submit feedback is Wednesday, Nov. 21.
“Our hope is to encourage widespread participation and get as much feedback as possible,” said Elizabeth Skowron, Senate vice president and co-chair of the ad hoc committee. “Our end goal is to create a system that will make it easier for members of the university community to engage in outside work and activities while still upholding the university’s mission.”
