Almost 100 faculty members at the University of Oregon are celebrating a significant career milestone as the academic year comes to a close.
The Office of the Provost has announced the list of all faculty who have been awarded a promotion or granted tenure in 2025. It includes 29 faculty members granted tenure and promotion to associate professor, 17 tenure-track faculty promoted to full professors and 51 career faculty who have received a promotion.
The promotions include faculty members across campus, including most of the UO’s schools and colleges, as well as the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, and the UO Libraries.
Last week, faculty members gathered with loved ones and colleagues in the Erb Memorial Union Redwood Auditorium to celebrate their achievements and enjoy the well-deserved recognition together.
Upon arriving, each promoted faculty member discovered a name badge waiting for them with their new title. Attendees mingled over hors d’oeuvres, with a slideshow at the front of the room displaying all recipients.
At the urging of Provost and Senior Vice President Christopher P. Long, everyone took time to pause and share a moment of joy.
“It may feel counterintuitive to lift up joy in a time of strain,” Long said. “But in fact, it is essential. Celebrating the excellence and impact of our faculty is not a distraction from our challenges — it is what keeps us tethered to our shared purpose. It affirms that we are still doing the vital work of the university and still affirming and recognizing and celebrating the people and ideas that will shape the future.”
Long acknowledged that these were more than just personal achievements and thanked everyone who supported faculty members on their hard-won journeys to success.
“Every step is an incredible achievement for you and your family,” added Vice President for Research and Innovation Anshuman “AR” Razdan.
President Karl Scholz shared his appreciation for the many years of hard work faculty have contributed to the university and the limitless spirit of academic excellence they have embodied.
