The Duck Nest Wellness Center is launching a new program specifically for employees. They are looking for 10 to 12 faculty or staff members to become wellness ambassadors to share their passion for work-life balance and promote selfcare. Promoting general wellness for all members of the campus community is a primary purpose of The Duck Nest.
“Many employees do not know that they can use The Duck Nest and participate in our activities,” said Kate Stoysich, health promotion specialist. “The wellness ambassador program creates an opportunity for us to engage more faculty and staff to develop and deliver programming that’s more meaningful to this audience.”
The new program applies the peer-to-peer education model already in place at The Duck Nest. During the pilot year of the program, wellness ambassadors will commit one to two hours per month to give interactive presentations, table at new employee orientations, and create wellness opportunities within their own units and departments.
Faculty and staff members interested in becoming a part of this wellness initiative can learn more about the wellness ambassador program and apply on the University Health Center website. Applications are due by Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. Wellness ambassadors will be selected by a program steering committee.
