UO employees may be experiencing stress and feeling emotions at a high level these days. Taking care of yourself and encouraging others to do the same is one of the five featured strategies in the employee engagement initiative launched last month by Human Resources.
“Many of us are experiencing a range of emotions with the recent and ongoing racial injustice we witness and ongoing impacts of the pandemic,” said Mark Schmelz, chief human resources officer. “Now, more than ever, it is important that we put the people first.”
Employees are encouraged to explore ideas and suggested actions for taking care of their physical and mental wellbeing as outlined on the HR website. Suggested action steps for supervisors are also available.
The UO Counseling Center offers resources for support during a pandemic of racism and the Division of Equity and Inclusion provides information for underserved populations and allies.
