The Duck ID Account Management website will experience evening downtime this week while the vendor installs several improvements for the University of Oregon.
The website, located at duckid.uoregon.edu, will be unavailable for up to three hours on Wednesday, Nov. 15, starting at 6 p.m.
The Duck ID website is best known as the place where UO students, staff and faculty members change their Duck ID passwords every six months.
During downtime, such password resets aren't possible. However, Duck ID logins to other UO services will continue to function as usual.
The Nov. 15 update will introduce several improvements, including the following:
- Owners of departmental role accounts will start getting email notifications that the account's password is expiring. To help with the reset process, those emails will identify the account owner.
- The process for reserving Duck ID usernames for new employees will change, enabling the employee to claim the reserved name immediately.
The "PWADUCK" form in Banner will soon be updated with more information about the change to the Duck ID reservation process, as will the UO Service Portal page about reserving a Duck ID for a new employee. Information Services and Human Resources are also working to share additional details with UO staff who use that Banner form.
Post-launch improvements to the new Duck ID platform will continue in the coming months, as announced in August. When that work requires downtime, Information Services will schedule it for times that minimize impacts to the UO community.
Notices about downtime will be posted on the IT Service Status website. That's also where Information Services will post in-the-moment updates if the work runs long or causes unexpected problems.
Anyone with questions can submit a ticket through the Duck ID accounts page in the UO Service Portal, or contact the IT staff who support their unit or the Technology Service Desk.
