Exhibit honors Nazi-era student resistance group

An exhibit at the university is paying tribute to a nonviolent student resistance group known as The White Rose that formed under the Nazi regime in Germany and spoke out against Hitler and Nazi policies.

The exhibit honoring the student group is open through March 20. It is on display on the first floor and mezzanine of the Global Scholars Hall.

Students at the University of Munich created The White Rose, which operated from June 1942 to February 1943. The group distributed leaflets calling for resistance against Hitler’s regime, eventually leading to the execution of seven members and the imprisonment of others.

The group’s last leaflet was distributed in 1943 by allied planes that airdropped the pages over Germany.

The exhibit was created by The White Rose Foundation in Munich. For more information, visit the website.
