Incoming UO President Karl Scholz has selected Kassy Fisher as his chief of staff and senior adviser. Fisher is a veteran administrator who has served in numerous leadership roles during her 16 years at the University of Oregon.

Fisher has served as chief of staff to the provost and executive vice president since 2021. She also took on a portion of the chief of staff responsibilities in the Office of the President following the departure of Greg Stripp for Northwestern University in December 2022.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Kassy since I was selected as the incoming president, and many thoughtful colleagues from within and outside the university have described Kassy as a wise, collaborative, solution-oriented and unflappable administrator and adviser,” Scholz said. “I am thrilled to work with her and benefit from her deep knowledge of the administrative and academic workings of UO.”

Prior to joining the Office of the Provost, Fisher was the chief of staff to the vice president for finance and administration and associate vice president for campus services for more than six years. In that role, during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fisher co-led the incident management team, ensuring continuity and support for the entire campus during a critical time of need.

Before working in the campus finance and administration office, she was an assistant dean and director of finance and administration in the Division of Graduate Studies. Fisher earned her bachelor and master of education degrees from Salisbury University in Maryland.

Fisher will begin her new position June 1. The search for a new chief of staff in the provost’s office will begin immediately. Information about the position is available on the Office of Human Resources website.
