University of Oregon faculty and staff who are breastfeeding or expressing milk have access to a network of on-campus lactation rooms and a refrigerator loan program for storing milk at work.
“We recognize that being a working parent to a young child can be really challenging,” said Sierra Plotts, HR coordinator in the Office of Human Resources. “So we want to make it easy for employees who choose to breastfeed to do so, without extra challenges from the workplace.”
If you’d like to use the lactation rooms for nursing or pumping milk, fill out the Lactation Room Access Request Form. You’ll receive a response within two days with instructions for accessing and scheduling the room(s) of your choice. All lactation rooms are clean, locked and private with comfortable seating. Most rooms have hot and cold running water, a microwave and a refrigerator. Pumps are not provided, so you will need to bring your own.
You can request to borrow a personal refrigerator to store your milk whether or not you also use the university’s lactation rooms. To request a fridge loan, complete the Personal Refrigerator Lending Program Request Form. You will hear back within two days, but fridge delivery may take up to a week and sometimes there is a waiting list.
