There are many transportation benefits available to University of Oregon employees. For employees living at least 20 miles from the Eugene campus, vanpooling provides commuters a convenient, affordable and sustainable transportation option.
Join the upcoming virtual UO Vanpool Info Session Thursday, March 19, from noon to 1 pm. to learn more and meet other UO commuters.
Register for the info session or just click the link to the virtual session at noon.
A vanpool is a group of five to 15 individuals who regularly travel to work together. Each passenger pays a monthly fare to ride in the van. Fares are based on the average monthly miles driven, the cost of the vanpool lease and fuel expenses. Lane Transit District offers funding through LTD’s Employer Program to subsidize the price of the leased vehicle through Enterprise up to $675 per month per vehicle.
Participants may choose any qualifying vehicle and each rider pays a portion of the total cost after these program subsidies are applied. The program covers all gas, insurance, maintenance, repairs and gives 24-hour roadside assistance. Worried about unexpected emergencies? Vanpool passengers are eligible for the free Emergency Ride Home program in case of a qualifying emergency.
Vanpool is a great alternative to solo driving for many reasons:
- Save money on the expense of your commute.
- Put less wear and tear on your personal vehicle.
- Enjoy the company of others while you travel.
- Relax while you ride, instead of always having to be the driver.
