The All-Campus Advising Association is accepting nominations for its annual UO Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Awards. The honors celebrate one professional adviser and one faculty adviser.
Faculty members, students, staff and alumni can nominate undergraduate advisers or mentors who demonstrate outstanding advising qualities and practices. Nominees should foster personal and professional student growth by upholding the integrity of the University of Oregon, cultivating academic excellence, providing outstanding student support, having a strong understanding of the cultural factors that impact student success and development, and engaging in professional development.
Recipients will demonstrate educational integrity and cultural competency, foster academic excellence, show outstanding support of students, and maintain professional development. The two winners will each earn a cash prize of $2,000 and will be recognized at the awards ceremony.
“These awards are an opportunity for us to highlight the amazing work of staff who don’t regularly make headlines: our academic advisers,” said Paige Schoenborn, academic and career adviser. “Every day, advisers on campus are assisting students with their academic and career plans, connecting them to resources on campus and in the community, and pushing them to be the best versions of themselves personally and professionally.”
A review committee including faculty members and professional advisers will select finalists, who will provide an advising philosophy statement. Winners will be chosen based on those presentations.
Nominations are open until March 1 and can be submitted through the advising association’s website.
