Nominations are now open for this year’s University of Oregon Sustainability Awards Program.

Information on each of the six awards and instructions for submitting nominations are on the Campus Planning and Facilities Management website. The awards will be presented at a dinner ceremony Monday, May 22.

All nominations, including self-nominations, must be submitted by April 10. The six awards are:

Excellence In Teaching Award: Open to nontenure- and tenure-track faculty. Candidates will have developed teaching and curriculum that reinforce and advance principles of sustainability through course design and instruction.

Research Innovation Award: Open to a UO project whose innovations developed from UO research and are now provided as products or services that improve sustainability.

Student Leadership In Sustainability Award: Given to a current undergraduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA who has made a significant contribution on campus for sustainability by implementing projects, generating awareness or creating new initiatives through extracurricular involvement.

Operations Award: Recognizes an outstanding individual or team whose contributions have improved sustainability performance in the day-to-day operations of the UO. 

Campus Design Award: Given to a project sponsor who has demonstrated leadership, excellence and creativity in implementing the Oregon Model for Sustainable Development.  (Note:  Campus Planning, Design and Construction are aware of all eligible projects. Therefore, nominations are not necessary.)

Town and Gown Sustainability Award: Presented to campus individuals or groups for projects that promote, educate or enhance a more sustainable community.
