For thousands of people with unpaid parking citations from the University of Oregon, February of 2015 is an important month: a final chance to pay any outstanding tickets, without accrued late fees.
Thousands of registered owners of vehicles with unpaid UO parking tickets will receive letters reminding them of the citations, and providing instructions on how to pay without late fees, and avoid future collections or parking boots.
After the end of February, any unpaid citations from January 1, 2014 or later will be sent to a collection agency. Vehicles with unpaid tickets from any time can be immediately booted or towed if they park on campus.
Returning visitors can avoid that nasty surprise by taking advantage of the one-time amnesty program, and paying their ticket(s) (with late fees waived) online at parking.uoregon.edu, or mailing checks to the Parking and Transportation Department. Anyone with an unpaid citation (even those who might not receive a letter) should take advantage of the amnesty program.
Collecting fees from citations helps pay for the parking enforcement program that protects legitimate UO students and employees who pay for the right to park on campus.
Most students and employees won’t be receiving the letters, and aren’t eligible for the amnesty program, since individuals with university accounts have long ago been reminded of outstanding citations, and the university can attach citations to UO accounts.
