The University of Oregon’s national search for its next permanent provost and senior vice president is moving into its next phase and applicants are now encouraged to apply.
The job posting and position description were recently completed after the search committee gathered feedback from members of the university community, and are now posted to the Office of the President’s provost search webpage.
The deadline for applications and nominations is Jan. 29, and should be submitted to Parker Executive Search. Nearly 100 nominations have been submitted. Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit additional nominations of those they feel would be qualified candidates for the position.
The search committee plans to conduct finalist interviews in late February with a target starting date of July 1 for the position. The initial phase of the search will be confidential. Details about finalists will be posted to the provost search webpage in advance of their visit to the Eugene campus for interviews.
Reporting to President Karl Scholz, the provost is the university's chief academic officer, serving as the steward of the university’s academic mission, working with faculty and staff members, students, deans and other stakeholders to ensure the university maintains the highest quality of scholarly activity and educational programs.
Interim Provost Janet Woodruff-Borden has taken a position as provost at the University of Alabama at Birmingham; Karen Ford, interim executive vice provost, will serve as provost beginning Jan. 1 and until a new provost is placed.
