"Suicide prevention is a community effort that we are all needed for," said hannah white, assistant director of the care and advocacy program in the Division of Student Life
University of Oregon employees and students can sign up for an interactive two-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training taking place June 1 and 2 in 131 Global Scholars Hall on the Eugene campus.
The program will empower participants to feel ready, willing and able to support folks with thoughts of suicide. Two registered trainers will lead the workshop that will incorporate group discussions, skills practice and audio-visual presentations.
Participants can sign up on the registration form in the event calendar listing. Attendance is required for both days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"Thoughts of suicide permeate the minds of so many of our students, peers, colleagues and community members — and every single one of us has the ability to support them," white said.
