Nine marketing and communication projects produced by the University of Oregon’s Division of Enrollment Management, Division of University Communications and Office of International Affairs took top awards in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District VIII Recognition Program.
The awards were announced last week during the annual district conference in Calgary, Alberta.
The UO’s “We If” television spot won a Grand Gold — the program’s highest award — in the video and multimedia category, and the associated "Explore If" Web page took silver.
“What Ducks Do,” an awareness campaign promoting the UO’s Sexual Violence Prevention and Education program, received the Gold Award in the student handbooks, catalogs and other informational publications category. The campaign, conceived and created in-house, features black-and-white portraits of UO student leaders superimposed with text describing what they — and other Ducks — can do to prevent sexual violence. The creative team comprised designer JoDee Stringham, writer Rosemary Camozzi and student intern Chloe Huckins.
Three in-house projects garnered Opportunity and Inclusion Endorsements in addition to winning awards. This endorsement recognizes communications that “foster and promote diversity in the Advancement and Communications profession.” The UO’s Office of International Affairs received the endorsement along with a Silver Award for the Global Education Oregon website, and two publications earned the endorsement in addition to Bronze Awards: Oregon Quarterly magazine and development communications' “Deep in the Woods” campaign brochure.
Enrollment Management won awards for two student recruitment pieces from the Division of Enrollment Management Strategic Communications team: “A Duck Like These,” a booklet featuring successful young alumni, won silver; and an interactive website that allowed admitted students from around the world to virtually “plant their flags” on the UO campus received a Bronze Award.
A pizza box featuring news stories about the UO written by Jonathan Graham and designed by Lori Howard and student interns Delaney Pratt and Natalie Greene took a silver award in the alumni, student, donor and community engagement category.
The winning pieces were selected via a peer judging process from a field of 492 entries.
