The day after the investiture of President Michael Schill, the Board of Trustees of the University of Oregon will meet for its regular quarterly meetings and consider names for new facilities while also finalizing the 2016-17 budget.
The board will consider authorization of $966.1 million in anticipated expenditures this fiscal year, which includes:
- An increase of 3.4 percent, or $8.7 million, in salaries and wages, up $8.7 million due to labor and salary increase packages for faculty and staff, new positions related to cluster hires, strategic initiative hires and new tenure‐track faculty.
- A 3.6 percent, or $5 million, increase in related benefits, driven by wage base increases and a projected $2.2 million increase in health insurance costs.
- Supplies and services expenditure increases of $2.5 million, which includes institutional expenses, such as debt, leases, assessments and utilities, as well as information services strategic technology investments.
- An additional $1.7 million for capitalized equipment, part of the strategic information services investments.
Trustees will also consider naming the new home of the Oregon Bach Festival Berwick Hall, along with naming the Bowerman Track and Field Complex, which is part of the upcoming renovation to Hayward Field.
A new six-year contract in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will also be considered. The multimedia license agreement with IMG College LLC would continue to provide exclusive rights to IMG for such things as radio broadcasts, signage, impacts and opportunities at events, and placement of advertisements and sponsorships on goducks.com.
The agreement would guarantee $57 million in revenue over the life of the contract, as well as 60 percent of revenue earned by IMG each year that is in excess of thresholds established in the agreement.
The public meeting of the full board takes place at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, in the Giustina Ballroom in the Ford Alumni Center Giustina.
Committee meetings will take place in the same location earlier in the day, with the Executive and Audit Committee meeting at 8 a.m., the Finance and Facilities Committee meeting at 9 a.m. and the Academic and Student Affairs Committee meeting at 10:30 a.m.
