With the highly anticipated 2022 in-person commencement approaching, volunteers are needed to help create an exceptional experience for University of Oregon graduates and their guests.
This year’s commencement is set to be the biggest yet, celebrating the graduates of 2022, 2021 and 2020 over two days. The assistance, presence and smiling faces of UO employees are essential in helping organizers navigate through the event as seamlessly as possible, ensuring that folks get where they need to go and have the information to it so safely.
Commencement exercises for schools and colleges are scheduled to begin Sunday, June 12. The main ceremony will be held on Monday, June 13, at Autzen Stadium. Volunteer shifts are available both days, but most of the volunteer activity takes place Monday.
Volunteers will be assigned tasks that vary from organizing graduates during the procession to Autzen, to assisting guests with shuttles to the main ceremony and seating guests at Matthew Knight Arena and other locations for department ceremonies.
To sign up, volunteers can fill out an online form, which describes each job and the time requirement. If a time conflicts with work hours, employees should check with their supervisor before volunteering.
