One of the University of Oregon’s main email systems will be briefly unavailable on Tuesday, Jan. 19, to allow for needed maintenance.
Webmail and the email accounts associated with it will be down for a few minutes between 5 and 7 a.m. This system is used by most students and retired staff members, and for many departmental role accounts.
During the brief outage, these email accounts will be unavailable for any purpose, including access from mobile apps. Incoming messages to those accounts will be held for delivery once service is restored. This maintenance won't affect UOmail, the university's newer email system, which is used by all faculty members and staff and some students.
During the maintenance window, Information Service staff will be moving the email service to upgraded servers. That move isn't expected to cause any noticeable changes to the Webmail service. However, if anyone does have problems accessing or using Webmail after the work, they should contact the Technology Service Desk by phone at 541-346-4357 or by live chat or submit a ticket through the email and calendar help page of the UO Service Portal.
