Today and tomorrow, nominees to the University of Oregon's new Board of Trustees are on campus for orientation workshops that will begin to familiarize them with many aspects of the university and its organization. A similar orientation will take place in Portland in mid November.
The University of Oregon School of Law is welcoming back alumnus Will Glasson as the associate director of external relations. Glasson, an active entrepreneur and 2006 graduate of the law school, has worked for various firms and companies, filling counsel, management and operations roles. His practice focused on assisting technology, athletic, outdoors and hospitality businesses with complex transactional, intellectual property, and privacy and data security matters.
The public is invited to hear George Hosking, a leader in child abuse prevention, speak at the University of Oregon Nov. 1 on the implementation of evidence-based efforts across the United Kingdom.
The University of Oregon will host a panel discussion, The State of Communicable Disease in Lane County, on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Willamette Hall, room 100. The event is free and open to students, faculty, staff and community members.
Two extra evenings this year bring additional excitement to the University of Oregon’s annual Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead Celebration. The free celebration runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 29 and 30 and Nov. 1 and 2 at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout that country and around the world in other cultures.
