Today, we bring you a new look and expanded offerings in AroundtheO.
In a sense, we’re taking AroundtheO to the world. It’s part of an effort to aggressively tell the UO’s story to as many audiences as possible.
AroundtheO was initially conceived as an internal communications vehicle. But over the past year, informative stories and strong search engine performance have fueled record traffic to the site.
“This redesign marks an evolution for AroundtheO from an internal communications tool to the UO-based news source for audiences around the world,” said Tobin Klinger, senior director for public affairs communications. “This latest iteration better meets the needs of internal users while providing an excellent platform from which we can tell the world about our excellence.”
The Working@UO section features content specifically tailored to faculty and staff. It houses HR-related announcements as well as news and information relevant to work on campus.
The new Students section will become a clearinghouse of student-related content, combining news about classes, registration deadlines and academic offerings with health, events and news related to campus life.
The News section will contain much of the content people are used to seeing in AroundtheO, including stories on faculty excellence, research and campus life. Another tab will take viewers to the UO Alumni Association website.
“The UO has a long and storied tradition of academic and research excellence in a unique setting, with an amazing student experience,” Klinger said. “This is the best storytelling vehicle we’ve ever had to reflect that amazing UO story.”
