The University of Oregon benefits office is offering on-campus retirement counseling to answer benefit-eligible employees’ questions regarding tax-deferred Investment and optional retirement plans. A limited number of financial planning workshops are offered with retirement planners.
Fidelity counseling sessions are Jan. 31; Feb. 9, 13 and 22; and March 13 and 15. Reservations for the Fidelity workshops are available online or by phone at 1-800-642-7131. Room locations and times are provided at the time the reservation is made.
TIAA counseling sessions are Feb. 6, 7 and 8 and March 6, 7 and 8. Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling 1-800-732-8353.
In addition, a representative from Oregon Savings Growth Plan will conduct on-campus workshops in March and will provide information about Oregon’s deferred compensation plan as an option for retirement planning. Workshops will cover the difference between the 403(b) and 457 plans, as well as choosing between a range of investments and discovering the difference between pre-tax and after-tax contributions.
Workshops are available on Tuesday, March 13, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Erb Memorial Union’s Coquille Room. No registration is required.
The benefits office reminds employees that the IRS contribution general limit for the 403(b) and the Oregon Savings Growth Plan (457) increased from $18,000 to $18,500 for 2018. Action is required to increase or change current contribution amounts:
- 403(b) plan: Submit a salary reduction agreement form to the benefits office.
- Oregon Savings Growth Plan: Submit a deferral change form directly to OSGP.
