The University of Oregon will bring up to four candidates to campus from Tuesday, March 14, through Friday, March 24, in its national search for the next College of Education dean.

Faculty members, staff and students will be invited to meet with each of the finalists during their respective campus visits, which will include a public talk, conducted in hybrid mode, and an in-person reception.

Details about each candidate will be released in advance of each visit on the Office of the Provost website, along with an online survey where community members can share their thoughts and observations.

"Our College of Education plays an important role in supporting child development and well-being in our state and across the nation," said Janet Woodruff-Borden, acting provost and executive vice president. "It's essential we identify a leader who will value and support the research, outreach and education efforts of the college and also the Ballmer Institute."

The College of Education has more than 500 faculty and staff members and is home to approximately 900 undergraduate students and 500 graduate students pursuing degrees in the college’s 16 programs.

Established in 1910, the College of Education has a decades-long record of national and international research and development in special education, counseling psychology, educational leadership, school psychology and more.

The search committee is chaired by Bruce Blonigen, the Edward Maletis Dean of the Lundquist College of Business, and includes a range of stakeholders. The committee partnered with the firm Isaacson, Miller to ensure a broad search yielding a diverse pool of well-qualified candidates.

Former College of Education Dean Randy Kamphaus is currently serving as the interim executive director of the Ballmer Institute for Children’s Behavioral Health. Professor Laura Lee McIntyre is serving as interim dean of the College of Education while the search for a permanent dean is underway.
