The University of Oregon identification card is getting a fresh, new identity in 2025. It will be known as the Flock Card, a name that reflects a strong sense of community.
The ID card is commonly confused with the Duck ID and the 95/ID number. To provide better clarity and improve the student and employee experience, the Flock Card will establish a consistent and unique official name that differentiates the ID card from other university identification sources.
The newly designed Flock Card will be phased in over time beginning next summer. It will be issued for the first time during IntroDUCKtion in summer 2025 to incoming students. By fall of 2025, newly hired faculty and staff will also begin receiving the Flock Card.
Current faculty, staff and students will not be required to replace their existing cards. They may elect to obtain a Flock Card through the ID replacement program, which has a $28 fee. Lost and nonfunctioning cards will also be replaced with the new Flock Card starting in summer 2025.
To facilitate a smooth transition, employees are asked to help ID Card Services transition the reference of the UO ID card to Flock Card by reviewing school, college and unit materials. By July of 2025, websites, newsletters, training materials and other forms of communication should be updated to replace all references to UO ID card with Flock Card. Similarly, new marketing materials, mass emails, email templates, posters, signs or other collateral should be produced with Flock Card as the name reference. Employees should work with their supervisors to make an action plan for necessary updates or changes.
Along with a new name, the Flock Card will have a new look. A student-based design contest is underway. This is a special opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and give them a chance to build up resumes and portfolios. The contest will run through Dec. 20. Employees can help raise awareness about this unique opportunity by encouraging students within their school, college or unit to get involved and submit their design ideas.
