Four finalists for dean of the School of Music and Dance will visit campus to meet academic leaders, faculty, staff and students from late November through the first week of December.
“This search has yielded a diverse pool of very talented candidates,” said Jayanth Banavar, provost and senior vice president. “I look forward to introducing them to our wonderful campus.”
During their two-day visits, all candidates will speak at open forums held from 11 a.m. to noon in Beall Concert Hall in the Frohnmayer Music Building. Each candidate will discuss the topic “Leading the University of Oregon’s School of Music and Dance, Unique Opportunities and Challenges.”
Candidate A will speak on Monday, Nov. 27; candidate B will speak on Thursday, Nov. 30; candidate C will speak on Monday, Dec. 4; and candidate D will speak on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
Finalist information, including names and background, will be available on the Office of the Provost website three days in advance of each visit. The provost will post a follow-up survey soliciting community feedback following each visit.
The dean of the School of Music and Dance reports to the provost and is the chief academic and administrative officer responsible for all aspects of the school’s mission, operation and fundraising.
