It's time to get set up for success with bikes on campus

Bicycles are an excellent and economical way to get to and around campus. The University of Oregon is certified as a Gold-level Bicycle Friendly University. Transportation Services offers several programs to keep bikes and riders safe and secure.

Bike registration: Register any bike that will be ridden on campus so it can be identified if stolen and recovered. Along with a good U-lock and proper locking technique, it is the best way to keep a bike safe. UO staff and students can use a free registration service called Project 529.

Secure bike parking for commuters: New and existing permit holders can request a permit through the UO parking portal. 2023-24 permits for bike cages and lockers expire on Sept. 22. Employees who are not renewing their locker permit for 2024-25 are asked to return their key to Transportation Services at 1401 Walnut during regular business hours of Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Those using a bike cage are reminded to lock their bicycle to the racks inside the cage and not leave them in a cage overnight. Racks, repair stations and routes are listed on the UO Campus Map.

UO Bike Program: The Outdoor Program offers this resource for cyclists and is located conveniently on campus in the Erb Memorial Union. It offers help with repairs, maintenance classes and biking trips.

Bike Share: Those needing a bike infrequently or who choose not to bring personal bike on campus can sign up for the PeaceHealth Rides bike share. With many hubs on campus and throughout Eugene and Springfield, the blue bikes are a great way to commute. UO staff and students get a discounted membership.

Electric mobility devices: Riders are reminded that e-bikes, e-scooters and e-skateboards are allowed to operate on campus on designated bicycle routes, but they are not allowed to be stored or charged inside UO buildings. E-devices can be parked on campus at outdoor bike and scooter racks. There are now several racks on campus specifically designed to accommodate scooters and a U-lock (near the EMU, Knight Library and Tykeson Hall). Charging for e-devices is available in the Millrace Garage, with the university planning to designate additional locations in the future.
