University of Oregon faculty members hoping to redesign or create new undergraduate humanities courses can apply for funding through Oct. 29.
The Oregon Humanities Center’s teaching fellowships provide opportunities for faculty members to create courses in subjects they would not normally teach and in ways they would not normally teach them, to substantially revise existing courses and to work with other departments to develop new team-taught, interdisciplinary courses.
The fellowships also offer course enrichment funds, which can be used for guest speakers, field excursions, materials, movie screenings and other ways to enhance the courses. The courses are meant to bring fresh ideas and approaches and span a range of academic disciplines and cultural perspectives.
The three types of teaching fellowships are:
Regular Oregon Humanities Center teaching fellowships:
- $4,500 in summer compensation to develop or redesign a course.
- Up to $1,000 in course enrichment funds.
The Sherl K. Coleman and Margaret E. Guitteau Professorship in the Humanities:
- $4,500 in summer compensation to develop or redesign a course.
- Up to $4,000 in course enrichment funds.
The Robert F. and Evelyn Nelson Wulf Professorship in the Humanities
- $4,500 in summer compensation to develop or redesign a course.
- Up to $4,000 in course enrichment funds.
