The implementation of Oregon Rising, the University of Oregon's strategic plan, began in Fall 2024, with a focus on three goals:
- Creating the operational structures and plans to sustain our ongoing work;
- Identifying and implementing strategy-specific milestones; and
- Creating awareness and aligning work across the university Oregon Rising goals, strategies, and principles.
Implementation is the third of four phases established to develop the strategic plan and deliver results on specific goal areas-timely graduation, career preparation, flourishing community and accelerating impact.
During the initial phases of UO Onward planning, community feedback led to a set of values and implementation principles that serve as a foundation for the work ahead. Next, operational structures formed the teams needed to ensure milestones and deliverables to make successful progress this academic year and beyond.
Implementation of Oregon Rising is now focused aligning and acting on its commitments and setting measurement approaches that provide both accountability and insight for each of the goals:
- Enhance pathways to timely graduation.
- Become a leader in career prepararion.
- Create a flourishing community.
- Accelerate the University of Oregon's impact on the world.
The goals are long-term stable targets, and ongoing implementation of the plan will incorporate flexibility. Strategic successes are built on new ideas, gathering broad input from the UO community to inform potential changes and adjust course when needed. The implementation teams welcome input and involvement.
Whether one's position connects directly to a strategic goal or strategy or supports the overall daily operations of the university, everyone has a part to play in implementing the UO strategic plan, Oregon Rising.
