Global Education Oregon is accepting applications from UO staff members, including officers of administration and classified employees, to serve as study abroad program assistants at select locations. Two grants will be awarded in 2019.
Non-tenure-track faculty members who have a full-time equivalent of 0.5 or greater assigned to advising students and/or administration are also eligible. UO staff from all departments and classifications are encouraged to apply.
Grant recipients will work closely with a Global Education Oregon director, faculty leader or program coordinator to determine the appropriate form of participation both before and during the grant period. The form and extent of participation will vary depending on the:
- Grant recipient’s background, experience and interests.
- Type and duration of study abroad program.
- Expectations of the faculty leader.
- Program expectations and goals.
- Program logistics.
The grant covers the recipient’s cost of travel, lodging, some meals and related fees, such as travel and health insurance. Individual grant amounts will be based on the location, as determined by the selection committee, but will not include salary or per diem compensation.
These Global Education Oregon Centers will be open for participation by grant applicants this year: London England; Segovia, Spain; Oviedo, Spain; Accra, Ghana; and Siena, Italy. Applicants can also request participation in a UO faculty-led program, with approval from participating faculty members.
Applications are due March 15. Applicants must fill out a two-page study abroad grant cover sheet and statement of purpose, along with a written endorsement from their supervisor and approval to use vacation or leave time. Complete grant application instructions and materials are available for download.
