Members of United Academics, the union representing faculty, voted to ratify the terms specified in the tentative agreement reached with the University of Oregon on March 30. This is the final step in the bargaining process and indicates that UA members accept the successor contract.
“Finding our way to this resolution was difficult. It required courage, care and commitment to each other, our university and our shared purpose. I am grateful to everyone who worked so hard for so long to bring us to this agreement,” said Provost and Senior Vice President Christopher P. Long. “Our work together continues as we begin the implementation phase and focus on building the trust we will need to adopt a more interest-based approach to bargaining in the future.”
Now that the union has approved the contract, the university will begin developing a plan to implement the new terms and communicate the changes to units, schools, colleges and departments.
The tentative agreement, which represents the final version of the collective bargaining agreement, is available on the human resources website. Department heads and other faculty supervisors should review the contract in order to fully understand the changes.
