The UO has announced the processes needed to comply with its COVID-19 vaccine requirement and is asking all students and employees to take action.

The UO requires students and employees to be fully vaccinated prior to the start of the fall academic term. Students and employees may seek an exemption to the vaccination requirement for medical, religious, philosophical or other nonmedical reasons.

Unvaccinated employees and students will be required to take additional COVID-19 safety measures. Those measures may include wearing face coverings, distancing from others, COVID-19 testing, isolating or quarantining if they are exposed to or contract COVID-19, or other public health measures.

Students are directed to use the myUOHealth website to upload their vaccine requirement or request an exemption.

Employees are required to complete a secure online form to verify their vaccine status or request an exemption.

Employees working half time or more who also are registered to take classes must complete both methods.

The deadlines to submit vaccination status or request an exemption are:

• School of Law faculty, staff and students: Aug. 13.
• Residence hall students, upon move-in and no later than: Sept. 14.
• All employees outside of the School of Law: Sept. 17.
• All other students: Sept. 27.

To encourage early participation, any student or employee who completes the vaccination requirement process by Sept. 1 will be entered to win $50 Duck Bucks prizes.

“Our planning for fall will continue to be guided by science and best practices,” said UO Provost Patrick Phillips. “It presumes that the majority of our community will be fully vaccinated this fall under our vaccination requirement, and we will maintain appropriate public health safety measures. As we look to coming back together in fall and we resume something closer to normal, we will continue to rely on our collective sense of purpose and care for our community.”

The COVID-19 vaccination regulation is a universitywide requirement.

Students who do not complete either action will be subject to an immediate registration hold and subject to discipline under the student conduct code.

UO employees who do not complete either action will be held accountable for compliance as they would other university requirements, including possible disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

As the term proceeds, those who request an exemption may update their status if they later choose to get vaccinated.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, an individual is fully vaccinated 14 days after the receiving a one-dose COVID-19 vaccine or 14 days after the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccinations administered outside of the U.S. must be “EOI accepted” by the World Health Organization and have a fully completed series according to the manufacturer of the vaccine.
