The UO’s Leadership Academy is seeking applicants for its 2021-22 session. Applications are due by Jan. 22.
The yearlong leadership development program is designed to cultivate an inclusive and diverse community of leaders and build participants’ skills in order to foster career and leadership advancement. Administrative and academic leaders at the mid and senior level are invited to apply.
The academy meets once a month and covers a variety of topics, including transformational leadership versus transactional leadership; leading through a lens of diversity, equity and inclusion; and critical dialogues and conflict resolution.
Nadia Singh is an associate professor of biology who was in the first Leadership Academy class and finished the program in 2019. She recently moved into a new role as associate vice president in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.
“It is not an understatement to say that participating in the Leadership Academy transformed my life,” Singh said. “The experience helped me truly understand how leadership is not a position. It’s a practice. The Leadership Academy provided me with the knowledge, tools and skills I needed to have a positive impact on my community.”
UO faculty members or staff who are interested can apply online on the Office of the Provost website. Email any questions about the academy to leadershipacademy@uoregon.edu.
