UO motor pool program begins transition in July

University of Oregon’s Transportation Services will assume responsibility for motor pool vehicle rentals at the Glenwood location starting July 1. Oregon State University, which currently administers vehicle services from this location, notified the UO earlier in the academic year that it would not renew their contract when it ends on June 30.

Oregon State University has agreed to leave a portion of the current vehicle fleet in place through Dec. 31 to provide the UO with time to implement an alternative vehicle rental arrangement. The reservation process and phone number will remain the same, and UO motor pool users can expect a similar level of service at the Glenwood location.

A multidisciplinary advisory task force is evaluating viable options. Their work will inform an implementation plan to continue vehicle rental services.

"An interim plan will be implemented to ensure services continue after the current contract ends," Director David Reesor said. "Transportation Services will work with finance and administration to review the task force's recommendation and take steps to implement a long-term solution."

Data from the survey conducted earlier this year along with submitted proposals will be used by the task force to provide a recommendation for vehicle rental services at the UO.

More information about the motor pool transition project is available on the Transportation Services website including a timeline, background information and frequently asked questions.
