A UO faculty member since 1966, Donnelly was a prominent physicist whose research explored the coldest temperatures possible.

The $214 million pledged means the UO has topped $200 million in gifts twice in three years and raised the campaign total to $827 million.

The Legislature approves $37 million for the new building plus renovations in Klamath and Chapman halls. 

UO alumni, students and employees can get a 20 percent discount on tickets for the September comic convention.

Construction is underway on the 150 Columbia lecture hall renovation project, which will bring the 55-year-old space up to modern standards.Fencing has been placed around the exterior of the building and so far asbestos-containing materials have been removed and audiovisual equipment is being salvaged, according to project manager Gene Mowery. The lecture hall will undergo a complete interior renovation, which will include a new seating design and the replacement of the audiovisual system.
