Under the proposal, which still must go before the Board of Trustees, resident tuition at the UO would remain below that of peer research universities.

Among other issues, trustees also heard reports on government issues at the state and federal levels and discussed building names.

Dunn and Deady halls are two buildings whose names have raised concerns among students calling for racial equity and respect.

Trustees also heard a report on President Michael Schill's access and affordability initiative during committee meetings Wednesday.

President Schill's access and affordability initiative and the new college and careers building also are on the agenda.

Once confirmed by the Oregon Legislature, freshman accounting major Will Paustian will serve through June 30, 2017.

The September board meeting included budget, tuition and construction discussions, a meeting with the governor and comments by the president.

The governor said she wants to work with the board to find a stable source of funding for higher education and continue recent gains.

Three academic buildings and two sports facilities are on the list of construction projects reviewed by the Finance and Facilities Committee.
