For departments looking to host a future conference on campus, there’s a service specifically designed to help out.
University of Oregon Conference Services exists to support those interested in hosting conferences at the UO plan and coordinate the resources needed to make the event a success.
Campus planners have access to a variety of resources when working through UO Conference Services, including online registration services, help with building event webpages and support in managing the budget for the conference.
The service also partners with organizations around the region to offer off-site excursions as part of the conferences. It also works with university venues and service departments, including University Catering, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, the Ford Alumni Center, Erb Memorial Union, Transportation Services and the Student Recreation Center.
Stacie Irvin, director of conference and event services, said the group can help arrange everything from private viewings at the art museum to team-building experiences at the recreation center’s rock wall and more.
Conference Services can also secure overnight accommodations in the residence halls on campus for conference and camp attendees from June through September and can incorporate catering and meal plans.
“Conference Services is here to assist the campus community in bringing events to the UO campus,” said Amanda Eriksen, sales coordinator for UO Conference Services. “We source all of the relevant resources and services needed that will help make complex, multiday events on campus a success.”
According to Eriksen, Conference Services is considered the “one-stop shop” for event planners on campus. They handle on- and off-campus logistics to meet each unique conference’s set of needs.
