UO faculty members are encouraged to apply by Feb. 15 for a grant through Global Education Oregon to support the development of a new study abroad program.
Grants, up to $3,000, will support expenses related to programmatic research, such as transportation to and from an international location, lodging and on-the-ground research of program-related activities, such as visiting cultural or historic sites. Grants can help fund a visit to a single site or to multiple locations within one country or world region.
Proposed activities can take place April 1 to Sept. 1, 2018. It is expected that those awarded a grant will submit proposals for a faculty-led study abroad program in 2020
While faculty members are encouraged to propose programs that take place in a location that best matches their program topic, priority will be given for programs proposing to make use of one of the Global Education Oregon learning centers abroad. These are located in Accra, Ghana; Rosario, Argentina; London, England; Segovia, Spain; Oviedo, Spain; Athens, Greece; and Siena, Italy. Additionally, preference will be given to proposals that receive matching funds from the applicant’s home department.
Grants will be announced by March 15, 2018.
