UO anthropology professor J. Josh Snodgrass has received the Outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit in faculty academic advising from NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.

The award is given to individuals for outstanding academic advising of students. The faculty academic advising category includes individuals whose primary responsibility is teaching and who spend a portion of their time providing academic advising services to students.

A UO faculty member since 2005, Snodgrass last year received the university’s first-ever Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award. In 2012 he was named a Williams Fellow for distinguished undergraduate teaching and received a Faculty Excellence Award for outstanding research and leadership.

Snodgrass, a biological anthropologist, is the director of the UO’s Human Biology Research Lab and also is on the advisory boards for First-Year Programs and College Scholars.

Since 1983, NACADA has honored individuals and institutions making significant contributions to the improvement of academic advising. NACADA’s membership has grown to more than 11,000 faculty, professional advisors, administrators, counselors and others in academic and student. 

Snodgrass will receive the award in Las Vegas during the NACADA annual conference this fall.
