The University of Oregon campus community is invited to celebrate the new Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement, a multidepartmental endeavor to connect students with opportunities that enhance their academic experience.

The event is Tuesday, Oct. 17, 4–5:30 p.m. in the Great Room of Global Scholars Hall. Opening remarks by campus leaders — including President Michael H. Schill, Provost Jayanth R. Banavar and center director Josh Snodgrass — will be followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and refreshments. Student research also will be on display.

The center’s main office, located in Global Scholars Hall, provides a central location for students to learn about involvement in research, scholarship and other creative ventures. The program supports students by connecting them with faculty mentors and research options, providing funding for experiential learning and creating avenues for undergraduates to showcase their research on the UO campus, in the local community and across the state and nation.

The center works with a number of campus partners, including the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, University Housing, Student Orientation Programs, UO Libraries, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Division of Equity and Inclusion and the Career Center.
