A new academic year brings new food and drink options to the University of Oregon.
Most visible to the campus community will be Chicken Bonz Express near the Fishbowl in the Erb Memorial Union. It specializes in chicken wings, both "with bonz and bonzless," with a vast assortment of signature sauces. A Springfield staple, it opens on Monday, Sept. 23, and will operate seven days a week.
Palace Coffee Roasters and Bakery will open on the ground floor of the Jaqua Academic Center, replacing Camp 13. It will offer a special breakfast and lunch menu designed specifically for Jaqua, including breakfast burritos, housemade pastries, hot sandwiches and coffee roasted in Eugene. It will open on Friday, Sept. 27, with the hours of Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Both establishments have been locally owned for over 20 years.
Tasty items created by the talented bakers from UO's Central Bakery will be featured at the seven coffee cafés on the Eugene campus. Seasonal sweets include Death by Chocolate cake and black bottom butterscotch pudding pie.
Popular food items have been added to the menus of the residence hall dining locations. Highlights include boba tea, aka bubble tea, and sub sandwiches at Global Scholars Hall; fried chicken sandwiches and tacos (on Tuesdays, of course) in Unthank Hall.
Employees are welcome to eat where the students eat. Faculty and staff can sign up the Ducks Dine On discounted meal plan that can be used at all nine University Housing dining locations.
The UO Campus Map has a food app layer and has a feature to drop a pin in a location and get a unique URL to send to a coworker to meet for coffee or lunch.
At the Portland Library on the Northeast Campus, employees can visit Kiss on Campus, a café and coffee shop, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
