Two new campus-based trustees began their service on the University of Oregon Board of Trustees Oct. 1, following recommendation for appointment by Governor Tina Kotek and confirmation by the Oregon Senate.

Gerard Sandoval, professor of planning, public policy and management in the College of Design, has been appointed as the faculty trustee, filling the open position following the completion of Ed Madison’s terms of service June 30. Sandoval has been teaching and conducting research at the UO since 2010, and he previously served on two other state boards: the Housing Stability Council and the Land Conservation and Development Commission.

Taliek Lopez-DuBoff, a third-year undergraduate student studying planning, public policy and management, has been appointed to fill the second undergraduate position on the board. Lopez-DuBoff’s prior university service roles include a term as senate president in the Associated Students of the University of Oregon, two terms on the University Senate and the Campus Planning Committee.
Sandoval’s and Lopez-DuBoff’s terms both run through June 30, 2027. Lopez-DuBoff will serve in a non-voting capacity this year, as undergraduate trustee David Mitrovčan Morgan assumed the voting undergraduate position effective July 1.
Both new trustees, as well as undergraduate trustee Mitrovčan Morgan, non-faculty staff trustee Lillian Moses and graduate trustee Cy Abbott, will hold office hours later this term in advance of the Dec. 9-10 board meeting.
