The annual graduate school rankings are out from U.S. News & World Report, and a half-dozen science programs in the College of Arts and Sciences are recognized as standing among the best.
“We are proud to see U.S. News & World Report once again recognizing the outstanding work taking place in the sciences at the UO,” said W. Andrew Marcus, Tykeson Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Graduate science programs in the college earning rankings include:
- Biology, No. 62.
- Chemistry, No. 59.
- Computer and information science, No. 64.
- Earth sciences, No. 31.
- Mathematics, No. 55.
- Physics, No. 56.
U.S, News & World Report weights a number of metrics in determining the rankings, including peer assessment, expert assessment, external research funding, admittance rates and more.
“Graduate education is one our top priorities in the College of Arts and Sciences,” Marcus said. “Our ability to compete for the very best graduate students is greatly enhanced by recognitions like this. Kudos to our science faculty, researchers, staff and students who have done the important work to earn these accolades.”
