University Senate recognizes five with annual service awards

The University of Oregon Senate announced their award winners for the 2024-25 academic year.

A new award honoring Lyllye Reynolds-Parker for student mentoring and support was given to Dr. Cecile Gadson, senior staff psychologist from University Health Services.

Scott Pratt, professor and department head in the College of Arts and Sciences Department of Philosophy, was announced as winner of the UO Senate Award for Shared Governance, Transparency and Trust. 

The Wayne T. Westling Award, recognizing exemplary service over a number of years, went to Harinder Khalsa, senior instructor of Italian in Romance Languages and the Yamada Language Center Self Study Language Program coordinator.

The Classified Staff Leadership Award that rewards “change agents” went to Annie McVay, graduate programs assistant in the School of Journalism and Communication. 

Another award recognizing exemplary service over a number of years, the Leadership and Service Award for Officers of Administration, was awarded to Sierra Dawson, associate vice provost for faculty and leadership development in the Office of the Provost. She also facilitates the Leadership Academy.
