Biography:
Brian Trapp is an academic expert in disability studies, literature, and creative writing, with a focus on the lived experience of disability/caregiving and its representation in literature. A novelist and creative nonfiction writer, his work often explores family dynamics, including the sibling experience, shaped by his perspective as the twin brother of someone with cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities. He teaches disability history and culture while also leading major literary programs at the University of Oregon, including the Kidd Workshops and the Northwest Review. Trapp is the author of the novel "Range of Motion" and his essays have appeared on NPR and in Longreads and the Best of Brevity.
